NFPA 99: Health Care Facilities Code Handbook, 2012 Edition

Medical Gas Installer/Brazing Class ASSE 6010

Applicable for installers of medical gas and vacuum systems. Installers include anyone who works on or installs medical gas piping or components, including brazers. This is a 32-hour course in accordance with current NFPA 99 and ASSE 6010 standards. It is taught over four days and includes a practical and written exam on the last day.

• General medical gas and vacuum systems knowledge
• Identification of medical gas and vacuum systems' components
• Proper installation methods
• System & Component testing
• Proper identification of component locations per drawings
• Proper test documentation
• Basic terminology

Medical Gas Inspectors Class ASSE 6020

Applicable for those who inspect the installation of medical gas and vacuum distribution systems
This is a 24-hour course in accordance with current NFPA 99 and ASSE 6020 standards. Topics covered in the class are the same as the 6010 class, but the students are not required to pass a brazing evaluation. The course is taught over three days and includes a written exam.

Renewal Course 6010/6020

Every three years, a renewal course is required for 6010/6020.  This is a four-hour course.

Medical Gas Maintenance Seminar 

Per NFPA requirements, Evergreen Medical offers this seminar to train personnel in new NFPA requirements for performing medical gas and vaccum systems maintenance and repairs specific to the facility.

Training is conducted at the facility by one of our credentialed ASSE Medical Gas Instructors or Verifiers. On-site training is cost effective as it does not require travel and the training is specific to the facility's equipment.

Course covers:  

  • NFPA and ASSE Maintenance requirements and recommendations
  • Medical gas equipment operation, PMs, troubleshooting, and repairs for medical air compressors, medical vacuum/WAGD pumps, Oxygen bulks, manifolds, valves, outlets, and alarms.

Medical Gas Maintenance ASSE 6040

Applicable for those who maintain medical gas and vacuum systems. This is a 32-hour course in accordance with current NFPA 99 and ASSE 6020 standards. It is taught over four days and includes a practical and written exam on the fourth day.

• Identification of medical gas and vacuum systems
• Proper maintenance requirements
• System & System Component testing
• Proper documentation
• Basic terminology
